KissTILE Solar Energy Roof Tiles
B-Pods Pty Ltd is an innovative Australian company dedicated to identifying and developing improved building systems and materials predominantly utilising fibre composite technology. It aims to market technology, construction systems, and related building products globally, both directly and through a network of associated companies. Their vision is to apply advanced technologies in simple building solutions by combining the best in new ideas and materials with the reliability and trust of traditional quality standards resulting in products that are stronger, of superior performance and more user friendly in construction.
KISSTile Solar Energy Roof Tiles was a finalist in the 2006 Australian Design Awards, combining Photo-Voltaic Solar Cells with Solar Thermal Hot Water in a common platform that can be inserted in a range of casings complimentary to any roof tile design, thereby being a building integrated solar solution that creates both electricity and hot water from a single unit. KISSTile was developed as a solution to address this slow adoption and low penetration of solar energy in Australian homes.
The KISSTile will provide consumers with a viable innovative energy efficient product that will assist manufacturers and constructers, particularly, to meet the increasing call and regulatory requirements in Australia and abroad for "cleaner and greener" technologies. The successful uptake of the KISSTile technology will also see reductions on the draw on the power grid as home owners and other building owners self generate power and return surplus energy generated back to the grid.
KISSTile is being developed as a mass market solar product with a target of 40,000 roofs installed each year. After 5 years there would potentially be 200,000 roofs creating 5 kw/h each of electricity per annum as well as Renewable Energy Certificates. Infrastructure expenditure in remote areas can be delayed or reduced due to the energy created and saved by KISSTile.
The KISSTile represents innovative disruptive technology, backed by strong intellectual property providing an exclusivity window of 10+ years.
