P3 - Field deployable communications system for defence, emergency and industrial applications
DCI's portable field deployable product 'P3' transforms the way ad hoc data and voice networks are established. P3s provide simple and effective LAN extensions over copper cables for data and voice at speeds of 8Mbs on each of its three transmission channels over distances of up to 8 kilometres.
Copper cables, plain or reinforced, when used with the P3s, provide a viable alternative to fibre optic based systems, being sturdy, flexible and many times cheaper. Copper remains a user-friendly medium that is easily deployed, retrieved and which can be "repaired as easily as tying shoelaces".
Developed in close collaboration with the Australian Army where P3s are used as a standard in tactical communications.
In addition to its defence use, P3s are ideal for establishing communications in disaster recovery, civil defence and underground mines - anywhere where there is a need for rapidly established, inexpensive and robust data communications networks.
Providing functionality in any terrain or conditions P3s are extremely fast and simple to set up and their use results in savings to a factor of 20 compared to fibre-optic based or other similar technologies - without any loss of functionality.
DCI have received the following Awards and recognition:
Golden Link 2002 winner for "outstanding collaboration between government (ADF) and industry (DCI) in designing an innovative product assisting in the war against terrorism"
Yellow Pages New Business Idea 2002 - State Winner
PEARCEY Award Winner 2003 for "innovative and pioneering achievement and contribution to research and development in IT"
