Sterilisable Laryngoscope
Much of the equipment used by veterinarians in anaesthesia and critical care was originally designed for human use and then modified for working with animals. The equipment designed by Advanced Anaesthesia Specialists has been specifically designed for animals, leading to greater ease-of-use and comfort for vets and improved treatment outcomes for their patients.
For instance, hypothermia is a significant problem when anaesthetising animals due to their propensity to lose heat rapidly, so AAS has developed a range of heating blankets made to a range of animal sizes.
Equipment designed by AAS is easier to use, resulting in greater efficiency for vets and enabling them to treat animals more effectively and to treat more animals per day. A laryngoscope created by AAS has eliminated elements such as mechanical switches and light bulbs in favour of integrated microcircuitry, magnetic switching and an LED light source. This has improved reliability and made the device easier to use, leading to greater patient safety. The AAS laryngoscope is also smaller than competing devices, with a waterproof handle that can be chemically sterilised. This product is also being sold into the human market.
This combination of equipment and education from AAS has been a leading contributor to a reduction in anaesthetic animal deaths in Australia.
