Mobile Analytics
The use of data services by mobile phone users has grown rapidly in recent years, but mobile operators generally have little understanding of what services consumers are using. Devices such as the Apple iPhone have made it easier for consumers to venture outside of the data services that carriers provide in their own mobile web portals.
Mobile Analytics from Amethon helps operators make sense of consumer behaviour by providing information about which sites and services they are using. By understanding their consumers’ engagement of the mobile internet, operators are in a better position to create new services to increase their share of revenue beyond simply charging consumers for the data they consume.
Amethon’s technology can tell operators which sites and services are generating the highest data consumption rates, including from iPhone applications. Future versions will be able to track usage of services such as mobile email and instant messaging, and audio and video streaming.
The technology is also used by mobile website publishers to gain insight into how consumers are using their services, such as how many unique visitors and page views they are receiving, how long consumers are spending on the site, and what networks and mobile handsets they are using.
Mobile Analytics is also used by mobile marketing agencies to provide clients with information about the success of mobile campaigns, by tracking the number of consumers that visit a mobile website as the result of an SMS direct marketing campaign.
The technology is used by Australian mobile site publishers including News Digital Media and MobileActive and by mobile divisions of the Publicis and Omnicom global advertising groups. Mobile Analytics is also currently being trialled by mobile network operators in Europe and the Middle East.
