Biometix
Performix Biometric System Manager
Operators of biometric security systems are often caught between the competing requirements of ensuring both robust security and easy access for users. Adjusting parameters to reduce the likelihood of malicious or accidental entry from impostors can result in a higher incidence of falsely denying access to legitimate customers.
Performix from Biometix is a comprehensive, vendor-independent and easy-to-use analysis and management system that helps operators balance these needs through a software toolkit that can fine-tune system parameters to deliver optimal performance, reducing both errors and cost.
Performix can evaluate various biometric systems to determine the best types of biometric (e.g. face, fingerprint, voice, palm, vein, iris or various combinations) and equipment for specific situations, and then determine their optimal parameters without the need for trial-and-error testing. It can track false alarms and other events of interest, and generate a wide range of reports on service level management and other operational activities. It also includes an investigative function for determining the potential for fraud within a system, identifying malicious impostors and nominating which individuals should be tracked.
This combination of features is unique in the biometrics sector and can assist operators to save many hundreds of thousands of dollars each year. No other system offers the same breadth of services for an operator.
Biometix itself is a full-service consulting organisation for the biometrics industry, providing supplier-independent services including quantitative evaluation, troubleshooting, systems design and ongoing management.
Clients include Centrelink Australia, the Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship, the Hong Kong Immigration Authority, New Zealand Passports, US Department of Homeland Security and the United Kingdom Home Office. Biometix was recently awarded a significant grant from US Department of Homeland Security for a biometric security project in collaboration with Purdue University
